James Meehan High School 50th Anniversary

Our 50th Anniversary is not simply a milestone measured in years—it is a celebration of the thousands of students, staff, families, and community members who have shaped this school into what it is today. For half a century, James Meehan High School has been a place where young people learn, grow, and discover who they are. It has been a place of opportunity, resilience, and strong community spirit.

We celebrated our 50th Anniversary with a Golden Jubilee Ceremony where we heard from alumni and opened 30 year old time capsule. Then enjoyed our 50th Anniversary Festival with community stalls, food trucks, FUSION CAPA showcase and the burial of our new time capsule.

The James Meehan Cup is a High Potential and Gifted Education initiative designed to support a smooth and engaging transition for students from Year 6 to Year 7. Students from our feeder schools compete across three key learning area challenges, culminating in a grand finale where the winning school is awarded the James Meehan Cup—celebrating excellence, strengthening our community of schools, and nurturing high potential in every learner.

Our 2025 James Meehan Cup winners were Glenfield Public School.

ACEL NSW Team Leadership Award

Our Executive team has driven whole school improvement through collective efficacy and the strategic implementation of Curious Collaborative Learning Community through instructional rounds that foster collaboration, feedback and professional growth. By breaking silo and challenging staff beyond their comfort zones, they have built a culture of high expectations and excellence. This had led to significant improvements in teaching quality, student outcomes and a sustained culture of collaboration and trust.

The Executive Team received the ACEL NSW Team Leadership Award at the ACEL NSW Annual Branch Awards Ceremony.
